Our senior classes were very fortunate to take part in a workshop based on learning about our native boglands with Laura from the Irish Peatlands Conservation Council. We learned about the different types of boglands, the insect, plant and animal life that they are home to and how important they are in taking carbon out of the atmosphere. We helped to make a 'bog in a bottle' and got to take an up-close look at some of the water beetles, insects, snails and larvae that might be found in our healthy fresh water systems.
