Scoil Íde is taking part in Safer Internet Day 2026 on Tuesday the 10th February.

This year’s celebrations are based around the theme,

'Artificial Intelligence and its benefits, risks and challenges'

Here are some ways parents can get involved:

  • Stay Informed: Keep yourself informed about the latest apps online.  Use the Webwise Parents Hub to help you understand all the latest trends online.
  • Chat to your child: Take some time to have a conversation about the importance of being safe online.  Encourage open discussion about their online experiences.
  • Privacy Settings: Regularly review the privacy settings on all devices and apps in your home.  Ensure your child knows the importance of keeping personal information private

As we are celebrating Safer Internet Day this week, we have made the yard a 'No Phone Zone'. Please show your support and not use devices on the yard this week at drop off and collection times.

CyberBreak

We will be taking part in the CyberSafe Kids Cyberbreak again this year. Families across Ireland are being asked to ditch their smart devices for 24 hours, from 5pm on Friday the 17th of October to 5pm on Saturday the 18th October. All classes will be chatting about activities that we can do that do not need smart devices and pupils will be drawing up ideas in preparation for the digital detox. We encourage families to make an effort to take part for all or part of the 24 hours and to try out this digital detox in an effort to reduce screen time among our children.

Dr. Richard Hogan will be hosting a free webinar online for parents on Tuesday 14th October from 7:30pm to 8:30pm on the topic of “Creating Healthy Digital Habits at Home”.  More information about the Cyberbreak and the link to register for the webinar can be found on https://www.cybersafekids.ie/cyberbreak/
